BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

23rd Dec 2023 to 7th Jan 2024 at Teatru Manoel

 

AUDITION DATES:

Main Roles ONLY - Sat 4th March from 10am to 1pm (last audition) & Sun 5th March 3pm to 7pm (last audition).

Chorus ONLY - Wed 5th & Thurs 6th April from 4pm to 8pm (last audition).

At The MADC Clubrooms, Triq Braille, St. Venera.

MADC’s panto is back, this time at Teatru Manoel. This year’s unmissable panto is ‘Beauty and the Beast’, written and directed by Chiara Hyzler. With Alan Montanaro as The Dame, with Kris Spiteri as Musical Director, Choreography by Francesco Nicodeme, Set Design by Matthew Cassar and Costume Design by Denise Mulholland, this wonderful production is going to be spectacular.

To apply for an audition slot please send an email to info@madc.com.mt indicating the role you would like to audition for or if you would like to be part of the Chorus. All auditionees must be aged 18 and over as of October 2023. Deadline to apply is Thursday 2nd March 2023.

Auditions for Main Roles:

You will be asked to read a dialogue slide in the auditions, this will be given to you on the day. Kindly prepare a song of your choice that best shows off your vocal ability and range. Please bring your own backing track on USB or phone (there will not be a pianist to accompany auditions and we don’t accept acapella auditions). Dancing auditions will be held at a later date should you be shortlisted.

Auditions for Chorus

You will be asked to read a dialogue slide in the auditions, this will be given to you on the day. Kindly prepare a song of your choice that best shows off your vocal ability and range (there will not be a pianist to accompany auditions and we don’t accept acapella auditions). Dancing auditions will be held in groups on the day.

Beauty and the Beast Character List:

Balle - A fearless, brave girl with a sense of adventure. Should be a strong singer and dancer and fab stage presence (Female. Playing age 18-25).

Sara - One of the two spoilt sisters (Playing age 18-25).

Sarah - One of the two spoilt sisters (Playing age 18-25).

The Beast - A male of slim but toned build. Good singer. Fantastic dancer. Should not be afraid of heights. (Playing age 25-35).

Bozza Mixgħul - A charming Maltese street lamp. Should have a good singing voice and dazzling personality. Good comic timing. (Male. Playing age 25-35).

Tick Tock - A traditional Maltese tal-lira clock with a positive attitude for solving problems. Actor with a good singing voice and good comic timing. (Male. Playing age 45-60.)

Kikkra Tereża - The level-headed teapot who tends to have the last word in the group. (Male/Female with a good singing voice. Any age).

Gradenza Sultana - A vivacious loud chest of drawers. (Female with a good singing voice. Any age.)

Hector Pector - A man of muscular build, ideally tall. Good deep singing voice and good commanding stage presence. (Male. Playing age 25-35.)

Uiva - A comic actor. Any gender. Playing age 18-40.

Mhux Xorta - A comic actor. Any gender. Playing age 18-40.

The part of the Dame, played by Alan Montanaro, has been precast.

Initial Schedule:

The production photo shoot will be held on Sunday 17th September 2023 and rehearsals are scheduled to start at the end of September/beginning of October. Shows will run between the 23rd December 2023 and 7th January 2024 which include matinee and evening performances on most of the days.
