Described as a "modern classic" (UK Sunday Times) and an "era spanning masterpiece" (London City AM), The Pride is an award winning British drama by Alexi Kaye Campbell that counterpoints two parallel love stories. It is a hilarious and heart-felt landmark play about courage, compassion and the fear of loneliness in life's journey towards self-discovery. Philip, Oliver and Sylvia exist in a complex love triangle which spans over half a century, living and loving simultaneously in 1958 and the present against a background of changing attitudes.
The Pride was originally produced at the Royal Court Theatre in 2008 and was awarded the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre, the John Whiting Award for Best New Play and the Critics' Circle Award for Most Promising Playwright. It made its Off-broadway debut at MCC Theater in 2010 and its Australian debut in 2012. It was revived in the West End in August 2013.
The Pride, directed by Michael Mangion for the MADC, will be performed at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity, Valletta on 24, 25, 26 April 1,2,3,8,9,10 May 2015.
